- Don’t block the walkway or outdoor shower. Other guests and the cleaning crew need to get through.
- Stay off the grass and septic field. Many OBX homes are on septic systems, and a parked cart can damage the drain field. Gravel or pavement only.

- Use a proper exterior outlet, ideally a GFCI outlet under the house or on the carport. Almost every rental home has one.
- Plug the charger directly in if you can. If you must use an extension cord, use a heavy-duty outdoor-rated one, as short as possible. Thin indoor cords overheat.
- Keep the connection dry and off the ground. Salt air and afternoon storms are hard on plugs.
- Charge overnight. Plug in when you get home for the evening and you’ll wake up to a full battery, every day.

Some OBX communities have their own rules about carts: where they can park, whether they’re allowed on certain private roads, and occasionally whether overnight street parking is permitted. Corolla-area subdivisions are the usual suspects.
Your rental home’s welcome book often spells this out. If it doesn’t, ask your property manager, or just keep it simple: park on your own driveway, not the street, and you’ll almost never have a problem.
